FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
April 23, 2007

Cancer Care Centers Foundation’s tireless efforts raise over three-quarters
of a million dollars in donations in the past 12 months to help cancer patients
and their families in Brevard and Indian River Counties. With 100% of donations
going to comprehensive patient/family support services, community outreach and
education, the CCCF has rallied the support of the local community to get
involved and make a difference.

MELBOURNE, FL – Caring people throughout Brevard and Indian River Counties have rallied in a tremendous show of support for their community by supporting the Cancer Care Centers Foundation’s 5th Annual Caring Hearts Benefit and it’s 5th Annual Spin-A-Thon event. Local artists and businesses generously donated original works of art, products and services for auction at the 5th Annual Caring Hearts Benefit that brought together more than 550 attendees including some of the area’s most prominent community leaders for fun, food and music… all benefiting the Cancer Care Centers Foundation (CCCF). The Club Performax 5th Annual Spin-A-Thon brought together people of all ages in a unique event that took an indoor-cycling group exercise outside for a 6-hour marathon that had music, food and fun for the whole family. Other activities included yoga and an exciting “BodyPump” class. Club members, local businesses and even local fire fighters got involved in riding for cancer patients.

Founded in 1993 by Dr. Silas Charles, the CCCF was established to assist the many people within Brevard and Indian River Counties who have been touched by cancer. The CCCF assists the under insured or uninsured cancer patient, alleviating them and their families from financial burdens and allowing them to focus on fighting the fight against cancer. Helping pay the monthly bills like phone, electricity and mortgage makes a difference in a patient’s ability to cope with the stresses of cancer treatment. The CCCF also provides educational programs, financial counseling, support groups, and participation in medical research projects… the CCCF’s sole focus is to help cancer patients and their families.

A diagnosis of cancer changes lives forever and in many ways—for the patient as well as the caregiver. At CCCF, mind, body and spirit are cared for in order to let the cancer patient focus on living again. As a non-profit organization, the CCCF was recognized as the "Organization of the Year for 2004" by the Florida Today Newspaper for our efforts in assisting cancer patients and the community in coping with cancer.
